When it comes to promoting your business, there are many types of advertising that you can use. The main categories are free and paid. Your budget will dictate which one you choose for your own business.

Some places where you can advertise your website for free are social sites, traffic exchanges and classified ad sites. A social site is a site like Facebook or IBO Toolbox. At some of these sites you have to view 4 sites in order to have your site viewed once. Some sites offer a one to one ratio. It depends on the site. Classified ad sites are sites like Craigslist. It's generally free to post an ad. You have to be sure to follow their terms or you may be banned. These sites get a high volume of traffic so if you post a catchy ad in the right category, you can generate income from your classifiied ad. If you post in the wrong category, your ad will probably be deleted.

Other ways to promote your business for free are adding a signature to the end of every e-mail you send, joining a forum where you can post regularly and have a signature with a link, and writing articles or Squidoo lenses. Paid advertising can vary greatly in cost. There is advertising for every budget. You may want to start small and work your way up to the more expensive advertising. Jennifer, thanks for educating us on the variety of options to advertise a business. I am intrigued by classified ads, I have not thought of it as a good place to advertise.
