What's The Point of Struggles If We Aren't Called To Its Process? Part II point of struggles, God's, call, solutions

As I shared with you (in Part I of this series) I began in the indoor environmental assessment and remediation industry disappointed. I had studied and thought I knew what I was getting into; I knew what (academically) was correct; but walked into an industry altogether asking me to do something else or to stop short of helping certain people (who my peers considered "high risk claims"). On this latter issue, I recall asking my peers, "If we, who are in the industrial hygienists, don't help these people, who will?" You know what I got in response? A series of shrugged shoulders and a lecture on regulations, litigation and over-head.
In my heart and soul there was a void. Every time I got a call from someone in need (such as those with a reported Sick Building Syndrome or Building Related Illness) I was told to create an excuse or obstacle to service so they "would go away". I really struggled with this. Being new to the industry I wasn't sure what the solution was or where it was - if it existed - but I knew I had a heart and soul to serve those in need.
I spent years praying over this. One day after showing up for work and making my way into the conference room for our morning planning session (of management) I was taken aback, consciously. It was if I was lifted up above everyone in the room, watching them, as I heard a voice say to me, "You're not staying here." It all happened as quickly as you can read this; then, it was over.
I spent the next two years asking, "Where?" "How?" with no response except a growing interest in how the industry worked and how business worked. Little did I know that was God's way of preparing me for ownership. It was during that time He saved me $8000; provided me the costs and ways of starting a business on a low budget while saving consumers money; and, educated me on how to do things I had little experience (beyond a textbook).
Two years later, as I was driving down the highway, it came to me what my heart and soul was longing for in one word: Solutions. I wanted to help those people find solutions to their specific situation - whatever it was. That's when God answered the "Where?" and replaced my fear and doubt so "How?" was no longer a question.
I share this story with you for two reasons: (1) I've shared blogs in the past that discuss me and my company's principles, but I want you to understand how real those principles are to us. Through the grace of God I've been given a share in His work, through this company (which is His not mine), and through His grace I've been given the means to provide that service. There is no longer that void. So, the empowering that we do here, at Solutions, is a share in the empowering of God through us. (2) And, I want you to believe, too, that where ever you are, whomever you are, if you haven't heard that calling yet, if there is still that void in your heart and soul, there is hope. Go, as I did, to the Highest Power for the answers with a ear to listen and hear, and a will to respond, "Yes, Lord." When you do, you too will be filled and empowered.

| | | | | Thanks for sharing, Jason! I love hearing/reading stories like yours. God's grace is sufficient for all of us. All we have to do is have faith and be obedient to His calling when we hear it; and to hear it we have to be still and know that He is God ... and listen. Another big AMEN for you for knowing there was a better way. GO IBO!
God Bless! |

Great Story! |
| | | | | It moved me for years, sometimes without me knowing it, Don. I spent so much time struggling with where I was and where I was going, trying to balance desires with wisdom and my family's needs, as well as my own sense of what was morally and ethically correct. The pressure was gone when I came into this service; that is why I call my business Solutions and made our mission one of empowerment. |
