Good Leadership Means Good Communication. good communication, leadership skills

To build a team, you need most of all, to develop leaderships skills. And the number one skill is good communication. A leader needs to have the ability to influence and motivate others.
Learn to speak effectively. Face to face, your non verbal communications are more important than even what you say. Be aware of your eye contact and gestures. Do you have confident body language?
Remember that communication is two-way. Listen and observe body language. Ask questions. Try to really understand. Give feedback. You need to build that relationship to inspire trust and confidence. Remember you are leading volunteers, not employees. They need to want to work with you and follow you.
Writing is important too. You will want to teach your group and communicate your vision. Much of that will be written. You need to communicate your plans for the future.
Peter Drucker once said, "Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things." And one of those right things is learning to communicate your ideas and persuade people to follow you. Good leadership means good communication.

I remember an old joke - the order was "Send reinforcements, we are going to advance", which due to poor communication became "Send 4 and six pence we're going to a dance". TB&L for you. |
