You have developed a range of Information products, or have access to high quality products, that you want to share and market to a customer base. But how do you do it?
How do you go about getting maximum exposure of your product range for a reasonable price that generates high visibility of what you have to offer and generate sales?
The truth is that information products are “hot items” in the market place. Unless you have a Marketing strategy that sets you apart from the rest then it is probable that your product will not get the visibility or recognition it deserves.
If you are serious about developing a process and strategy to market your products then you need to understand the principles of marketing online. Marketing information products through the use of tools and processes used by successful marketers can deliver the outcomes you deserve.
Marketing information products – Traditional Media or Internet
Marketing information products is no different to any other product or service. You need to get the information about the product or service in front of people who are looking for that product or service. But what is the best vehicle to deliver that information to the customer base.
Traditional approaches such as advertising on radio, television, andthe print media are still used by many businesses to market and advertise their product or service. The cost associated with these traditional approaches can be significant. Think of large national television campaigns and consider how much has to be spent in developing the campaign, filming , then paying for placement on a television network – no wonder it is only the large corporates that do it! Marketing information products through television or print media is not cost effective in my view – especially when you are trying to get up and running.
Local campaigns in print or radio, while more cost effective, only enable you to access potential customers within a limited geography. This is fine if you are marketing a physical product that a customer needs to see, feel or touch – it is unlikely to an effective strategy for marketing information products which are more focussed on content, the benefit of the content and broad appeal across multiple-geographies. And of course these approaches only last for as long as the print media is retained by the person or the length of the radio campaign.
In today’s world the internet is becoming the most important vehicle for delivery of goods and services to potential custiomers. Information products are by the very nature a good fit with internet marketing – marketing information products which can be delivered electronically, or through the mail, means you have no geographic boundaries to limit your customer base. Marketing information products through the internet is therefore the best medium to find your customers.
So the internet is the place for you to find your customers – but marketing information products on the internet is not just a simple matter of building a website and waiting for people to visit!!!
Marketing Information Products – Getting Customers
Okay, you have decided to market on the internet, you have created a great looking website, the website is now published and avaialble to the market. Everything is set up for customers to visit your site and buy your product – right? Well not quite.
Like any other business, you have to make certain that customers know you exist and I can tell you from (painful) experience that just having a website will not result in an avalanche of people visiting your online store and getting your product or service.
Marketing information products requires you to develop a systematic process to ensure that people come to your site. Lets be honest, you will be competing with multiple businesses who are looking to market similar products to yours. So how do you differentiate your marketing of information products from everyone else?
If you are lucky, you will have joined an information product company that provides you with some training on marketing your product – but will this be enough to drive customers to your site?
If you are like me, and have developed your product and website from scratch with a total belief in what you are doing, then you probably have no internet marketing experience. Marketing information products online is as an expertise you just don’t possess or have only basic understanding .
It took me a while, but I finally worked out that if I wanted my “online aspirations” to be realised then I had to understand (atleast) the basics of marketing products on line. So began the process of looking for the right tools and support to make certain I could get people to visit my site. What I discovered on the way was that I was a complete novice on my understanding of marketing on the internet and, just as importantly that there was a huge amount of information on the subject.
It then became a matter of research, research and more research to determine what information was best for me, how to apply it to my situation and whether I would get support and training along the way.
You are probably in the same situation – trying to find the best approach to marketing information products on the internet and driving traffic to your site.
Marketing Information Products – Finding Marketing Tools
If you are committed to making a success of marketing information products, which I am sure you are, then my advice is to make certain you seek out marketing information from people who have already succeeded in online marketing.
When you are doing your research the key elements you should be looking for in any online marketing information products focussed on driving traffic to your site are:
* significant training and training support
* automated processes that do not require you to “reinvent the wheel”
* is focussed on multiple marketing strategies to drive traffic to your site
* back office support for the product
* simple, easily understood information
* demonstrated evidence of the success of the product and those offering it
* cost effective
I’ll be honest with you – you will find a lot of sites claiming to be the best, and I am sure they are all very good – so your research may become “time consuming”. But as long as you keep the points I’ve noted above in front of you, you will find tools that best support your marketing of information products.
My other bit of advice – don’t be swayed by the hype or claims made on a site about Marketing Product programs – do some background research and potentially save yourself the disappointment of spending money on something that does not deliver.
Best of luck with your Marketing program for your Information Products. Just remember, we also start somewhere when beginning our journey to a destination.
PS: If you want to check out the program I am using, just click here. goo.gl/5aCPK The bonus to this program is that not only is the information great but you can also include it into your product suite.
