On-line marketing differs from almost all traditional business models.
In short - TO SUCCEED YOU MUST HELP OTHERS TO SUCCEED.
If you do not adopt or accept this concept then you are limiting and/or reducing the growth of your business. To put it simply, you need to leave your ego behind and adopt a mindset that you will help others to achieve their goals and by default you will achieve your goal. In this business model egos are not required.
This basic approach to on-line marketing is an alien concept for most of us – we the people who have grown up in a “traditional business” that rewards and encourages individuals to become “me” focussed to climb the corporate ladder. This, in and of itself, encourages the development of an ego.
Sorry – egos are not required in this business. What you need to develop is an attitude of doing what needs to be done to help and teach others to succeed. You need to be prepared to join a community of like-minded individuals who will willingly share their experiences and expertise with you – even if you belong to different marketing businesses.
Could you imagine Google and Facebook sitting down and sharing their knowledge with each other so that each could grow bigger? Yeah right. Pistols (or perhaps cannons) at dawn would be a more apt description.
Now don’t get me wrong, you need to be confident in your belief that you can succeed. You also need to understand that you bring to the community knowledge and expertise from your current JOB or business. People in the community can, and will, benefit from what you have to share, and you must be prepared to do so.
Enter this business model with an open mind, share your experience, learn from others and work as part of the community to help others succeed. Just don’t bring an ego.
