Do You Really Know Your Legal Rights? If Not, Why Have Them?!

“I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.” - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I’ve been blessed to live into my 50’s as I recently celebrated another birthday. As an educated African-American male born in the middle of one of the most-turbulent times on our country’s history, I’ve witnessed much turmoil over the years. With so many police shootings, racial profiling cases, and other hot-button topics in the news, I am constantly surrounded with the realization that we live in a dangerous world every day. No matter what goes on throughout the day, I’m always reminded that I’m only one bad decision away from having a costly legal issue. You’ll probably agree with me that every year, we all make major legal decisions that affect our lives, personally, professionally, and financially. The million dollar question is....when these legal issues arise, what do you do about them?

Having access to my legal rights has always been important to me, especially being born right smack in the middle of the Civil Rights era. I was born in 1965, a few years after the assassinations President Kennedy and before Dr. King in 1968. Growing up as a child, I remember many of the elders in my hometown of East St. Louis, Illinois talking about the hardships of black people and I got to see much of it first-hand over the years. I’m convinced that without warning and regardless of race, color, or creed, a legal situation can arise and if you’re not prepared for it, there could be trouble of immense proportions. After all, bad things happen to good people everyday regardless of personal stature in the community, economic status, or geographical location.

Having affordable access to your legal rights is your “constitutional right” no matter who you are, however, it often eludes those who can’t afford the $200 to $500 hourly fees of attorneys in this country. It’s almost like being a member to an exclusive country club; if you can afford to “pay to play” to have the best attorneys represent you, then you’re in! Ladies and gentlemen, the “color of justice” isn’t “black” or “white”’s “GREEN”! Here’s a fact: you will only get as much justice as you can afford! Everyone deserves to live their lives “worry free” and with “less stress”. But most times, the financial consideration often looms as legal issues can arise without warning. And though I personally feel I live in the most powerful country on the planet, it’s a fact that the legal system has many flaws. I don’t have enough time or patience to deal with unexpected legal problems, especially if I’m traveling away from home for business or pleasure.

Just like you would have the various insurances to protect you in the event of a tragedy, a legal plan can protect you and your personal and business assets. Compare it to having a fire extinguisher in your home. You’d rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! No one should have to worry about whether they can afford the services of a qualified and experienced law firm to protect themselves, family, or business.

Take a few minutes of your valuable time and watch this 4-minute YouTube video below, “All We Have Is NOW!”  to see why you should ALWAYS have affordable access to your LEGAL RIGHTS today, tomorrow, and forever!
