30 Day Mental Fast

In my quest to be my best I have decided to go on a 30 day Mental Fast. I got the idea from Mr. Jerry Clark of the Rhino Club. He has an incredible series called "Think Like a Giant" and this is one of the first exercises he suggests. Although the concept isn't new I think that the benefits if implemented can be quite substantial. There are eight parts to this 30 Day Mental Fast. I share these and hopefully you will join me. 1. Read at least 15 minutes per day. This sounds simple but most people never ever read. Make sure that the material you choose to read is empowering. Books like "Think and Grow Rich", "The Magic of Thinking Big" and my recent release,"P.U.S.H. Points with Pastor T!" are great choices. Reading 15 minutes per day will work wonders. 2. Turn off the radio and listen to an empowering audio. This part will require turning your car into a rolling university. Again it should be empowering material. I suggest "Psycho Cybernetics" or "The Strangest Secret." My Iphone is set to remind me of this very important task every single day. I hope you will do the same. 3. Turn off the television. This one won't be that hard for me because I have adopted the mindset of refusing to watch someone live their dream while I live a nightmare. I dismissed television a long time ago. Don't get me wrong. I do love watching HGTV every now and then but they will have to wait for the next 30 days. 4. Get away from negative people. That's right, avoid negative associations. You know who they are. They are the ones who rain on your parade. They are the ones who pop your balloons. Avoid them like the plague and if you live with them, do your very best to avoid negative conversations with them. 5. Don't read the newspaper. I remember years ago hearing Mary Kay Ash say if something bad is happening someone will tell you. This includes online news as well. Let's have a true mental cleanse. 6. Drink plenty of water. I thought this was an interesting part but Mr. Clark shared that most people are dehydrated which contributes to poor health. So as we are cleaning our minds let's keep our body clean as well. Water will help. 7. Exercise. As we are drinking water and moving on purpose our lymphatic system will be able to flush out some of the toxins in our bodies. You don't have to do P90X or anything major just start moving and get your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes (if its ok with your doctor) 8. Reflect. Take 20 to 30 minutes per day alone where you focus on being grateful, thankful, or you make affirmations. You can also pray and or meditate. I am going to journal during this time as well and more than likely it will be early in the morning or right before I go to bed. I know this will be very beneficial. Well those are the 8 parts to the 30 day Mental Fast. I hope you will join me. It certainly can't hurt to try right?
