Gold Standard of Coffees - Peet's

Hello and Welcome!

berkeleyplacque

Do you have a coffee preference?

Whenever I want an amazing cup of coffee, I head for Peet's Coffee & Tea.

Since 1966, Peet's Coffee & Tea has offered superior coffees and teas by sourcing the best quality coffee beans and tea leaves in the world and adhering to strict high-quality and taste standards.

Peet's Coffee & Tea, Inc. is the premier specialty coffee and tea company in the United States.

Alfred Peet opened Peet's Coffee, Tea & Spices on April 1, 1966; a small coffee store on the corner of Walnut and Vine Streets in Berkeley, CA.

Mr. Peet was a visionary; he saw what no one else had seen in the U.S., A New Kind of Coffee.

Born in Holland, Mr. Peet grew up in the coffee trade and moved to America after World War II.

He was astonished by what the U.S. called coffee.  His kind of coffee was unlike anything Americans had ever tasted before.

The original Peet's store is still located on the corner of Walnut and Vine (2124 Vine Street) in the Gourmet Ghetto of North Berkeley near the University of California.

It contains a museum exhibiting memorabilia and antique coffee apparatus.

From the first day I drank a cup of joe by Peet's Coffee & Tea I became a loyal customer or a "peetnik".

One day I asked one of the barristas, "why doesn't Peet's expand to every corner?"

The barrista's answer was something I could appreciate, "our focus is in maintaining the highest quality of our coffees; which our customers love."

I am one of those customers.

Their coffees and teas are superior; they continue to raise the bar for the American coffee industry.

I've always appreciated their coffees and teas, as well as going into any Peet's Coffee & Tea store; their customer service has always been and continues to be top-notch no matter the store.

If you consider yourself an aficionado of fine coffees & teas, visit Peet's Coffee & Tea, if you haven't already.

Thank you Mr. Peet for starting the coffee revolution in the U.S.

Thank you Peet's Coffee & Tea for continuing to maintain what Mr. Peet created; the gold-standard specialty coffee and tea company.
