I am sure that you heard many times of the phrase "the money is in the list. Well it is very true. The sooner you build your own personal list, the quicker you will make money online at internet marketing.
There are 2 ways to build a list, the long way and the short way, it is up to you which you prefer.
THE LONG HARD WAY
You will need to entice and persuade visitors to opt in to your list by preparing a special ebook or some other goodies which you can offer to them for free if they join your list. Try to avoid the PLR ones that are used by everyone else though.
Do some split testing and work out where the best position is for your opt-in box on your website.
Put a "forward to friend" link somewhere visible.
Put a link to each of your sites on any other web sites that you manage.
Visit all the forums discussions boards relevant to your niche and leave constructive comments there after being a member for a while. Be careful not to be seen as a spa**er though by simply advertising your site. The board owner will close your membership promptly if you so that.
The content on your site must be valuable, written in good English without spelling or punctuation errors and unique. To ensure this it is better if you write it all yourself. You must make sure that it is SEO optimized to rank it well in the search engines.
Be careful not to send out emails to people that have not agreed to get them, however tempted you may be. This will lead to complaints to your hosting company and can lead to your web site being closed down or de-indexed altogether.
Register for all the social media sites such as Twitter, Google Plus and Facebook and create lots of connections with like minded people whereby you will be able to promote each other's web sites. You might be able to guest write articles for them but they will expect the same excellent quality that you do for your own site.
By doing these things correctly and consistently, you are getting people to trust you and then, providing your site is interesting, they will keep coming back and eventually opt-in to your list.
