Why turtles are cool – Turtles really are cool and have always been one thing I adore. They swim so peacefully, have a strong “shield” from the big bad world, and they run after what they want. When they are born, they have to scurry to the water, from on the sand, as quickly as possible. So, do you like turtles, too? Turtles – My Story When I was young, I wanted to have pet turtles. I was not allowed to have even one. I had a friend that had three turtles, so I got to visit them, but it just was not the same. I then decided to take action. I got this small plastic fish tank from my grandma and I bought fake plants and fake turtles. I made my own little aquarium. I was definitely a smart little one. It even grew green fungus on the sides, so I got to clean the tank once every two weeks. I really felt like a mom to these rubber turtles that were not even real. Don’t worry.. I didn’t pretend to feed them, nor did I talk to them. Okay, so now that I am older and even more wise than before, I stop to realize why I love turtles so much. They are very inspirational and we actually have some things in common, believe it or not! When I want something, I do not sit around, wondering “what could be”. I get out there and go after what I want in life. When I wanted to move across the country, I did. When I wanted to move across the country again… I did… all before my 21st birthday. I was always pretty ambitious. I just don’t see the point in sitting in a corner, whining, like I see some other people do. When I have to avoid negativity, I put an invisible shield up and avoid the people or situation that is negative. This is the law of attraction and it works in a way that you attract what you think about. When turtles want to avoid another animal (or another pesky turtle), they just have to hide in their shells. It’s like saying, “Go away!” I can also swim peacefully, like the turtles can, as I did the Red Cross Swim Program for about 10 years. My point of similarity between the turtles and I is that I am a calm, kind-natured person. I strive to make differences in people’s lives and in the world around us. It is surprising how much you can achieve when you simply reach out and help other people. Sadly, some people never do this for others or they expect something in return when they help someone. Let’s be kind and good things will happen for us.
