Whether you recently lost your job or are facing unexpected medical bills, there are moments in life when you might need to raise cash fast. Most of us are completely unprepared to find emergency cash when an unfortunate financial emergency appears in our everyday life. According to statistics, over half of Americans did not set aside enough emergency savings in order to be able to cover minor mishaps.

In case that you may need quick cash for an urgent expense, there are some smart ways to raise it fast without harm irreparably your finances. Here are seven such ways:

  1. Sell your big ticket times such as couture clothes or your jewelry

Your mom’s engagement ring, your dad’s Rolex, or a diamond pin you just wear rarely can help you make some quick cash. The same goes for your Valentino dress or a pair of famous brand fashion shoes. You can also make some significant amount of cash be selling laptops, Kindles, iPads or big-screen TVs. You may even post these items on Twitter and Facebook, or try your luck on eBay. According to surveys, there are, in average, around $3,100 worth of unused items in a U.S. household.

  1. Take on odd jobs

In case that you do not have any high-value items to sell, you may sell your services instead. Start a neighborhood dog-walking service, pet sit or babysit for friends. If you don’t like kids or dogs, you can offer to drive elderly people to their doctor appointments, wash cars or mow the grass for your neighbors. You may also offer to paint the fence or to go grocery shopping for busy friends.

  1. Use your loose change

It is estimated that in the average U.S. household there is $90 of worth of loose change.

Collect all those hidden coins and change them for free at your local bank.

  1. Organize a garage sale

For some sellers, garage and yard sales can bring in a decent amount of change. Based on statistics and polls, most people organizing a yard sales are able to gain in between $100 and $200.
