Persist Like A Prodded Bull

This week we started a new scroll in The Greatest Salesman and it starts off by instructing to have the persistence of a bull that's been pricked and prodded but still charges forth despite the pain. It goes on to say that we should view the obstacles that happen in our life as mere pricks, however we shall still get up and greet each day with the confidence that it will be the best day of our life. The first day that read this scroll, it didn't really resonate with me. However, now that I have read it many times (3 times a day), it is really encouraging. The phrase that I really like and that pushes me to keep pressing on is "I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny." When I read that part I feel like I should be shouting it from the rooftop.prodded bull

Too often we decide to give up in life because we feel like we aren't getting any closer to the thing that we are working toward. The real key to success in life is to focus on the thing that we want. My focus, I mean to create a clear mental picture of that thing. We must also be mindful of our thoughts. We should not entertain thoughts that are not in perfect harmony to the thing that we desire. We should not focus or entertain thoughts of despair, worry, lack, pain, etc. Even if we do not desire a thing, we should not think on how we do not want it to happen, we should instead focus on the opposite of it. Mind is a very powerful tool, we should be careful how we use it, especially if we would like to live a happy, harmonious life.

Thanks for reading,

Van
