Wake Up 2 Wealth

Wake Up 2 Wealth's Daily View Of The World!

Here is a question for you :

If you wanted to hear a first-hand account of the conquest of Everest would you choose to attend a presentation given by (a) Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to achieve the feat or (b) Wally Crampon, a friend of an acquaintance of a relative of Sir Edmund's wife's third cousin and a man who has never been beyond the Elephant and Castle in his life?

Here is another question :

If you wanted to read a first-hand account of the first ascent of the south face of Annapurna would you choose to buy a book written by (a) Sir Chris Bonington, the leader of the first successful ascent team or (b) the afore-mentioned Wally Crampon?

Now there's no right or wrong answers to these questions but your responses will give a good insight into the kind of person you are. If you have answered 'A' to each of those questions, I'd guess that you're a reasonable sort of guy. You needn't know much about mountaineering and need possess only an elementary degree of simple sense to arrive at those answers. In the improbable event that you answered with two 'B's then you're either an ice axe short of a climbing kit, an overly-close blood relative of Wally's or one of his boozing buddies from the Elephant and Castle 'avin a larff!

Because, when you hear or read an account of an event, the best person to hear the genuine story from is the one who has been there, seen it, done it. It's the real man within the man giving his first hand account of his adventure, his explorations and his feelings. So it's meaningful, relevant, valuable and credible. No second or third hand account, however well researched and presented, can ever achieve the insight and authenticity of the actual participants' experience. No second party, however well coached, could ever credibly recount their adventure or convey their inner fears, struggles and emotions of their journeys - because he wasn't there!

Take my word for it. I'm not the kind of guy to mess about. Check me out by CLICKING ON the photo below.

In just the same way, if I were seeking guidance in my life or business I'd want to know that the person to whom I turned was that same been there, seen it, done it guy.

I was fortunate as a young entrepreneur making my way in the cut-throat world of commerce to have not one but two millionaire mentors. The two men shared common traits. Both were self made men, both had little formal education but each had an abundance of native wit. I learned that this native wit was the very bedrock of their success. In fact, it became clear to me that aspects of my upbringing, education and the culture in which I lived which were etched deep in my subconscious from early formative years, through childhood and into adolescence prevented me from seeing things in the simple and clear way needed to prosper. So I worked on uneducating from my thoughts and behaviour those negative influences and replacing them with positive, clear and simple ways of working. I continue with this work to this day, it's a lifetime labour.

So this native wit, this clear and simple thinking is what my mentors taught me. But they didn't teach me through a third party or even by 'telling', they taught me by 'showing'. It was hands on and real. They let me go out and get the bloody nose and the kicks in the groin. Then, when I came back, they'd say, “Did that hurt? Good! Now here's what you should've done.” Painful but effective. It's true, the burned child does fear the fire. The best lessons are the ones learned from experience, second or third hand accounts are not the same. They lack weight, they lack credibilty. And they lack the emotional and physical impact of a good kick in the goolies! - believe me! And so it is with mentors. Only the 'main man', the guy who has been there and done it, can tell it like it is.

When I go mountaineering, something I've done since childhood, I don't want to hire a 'learned-it-from-a-book' guide who has never been on a mountain in his life! I want my first conversation with my guide to go : Me - “Hi, Have you worked here long? Know the area? Guide - “I was born here, lived here all my life. My dad took me out on his back when I was just a nipper and I did my first climb at age six. I know every nook and cranny. Mind you, there's always surprises, always more to learn.” Brilliant, that's my man. Real expertise and humility too. Now that's what I want!

And that's why I urge my contacts to check me out. Click on to Read All About Me . Follow all the text and photo links from there to other references and then follow all the links from there on too. Do it thoroughly. Research and preparation are vital parts of any success strategy, they should account for at least two-thirds of your work. When the preparation is thorough then the endeavour itself should by comparison be simple. I want to expend 100% of my effort in being of value to just those who have looked into my background and are satisfied that I am the man who has been there, done it. That I have the credibility of a true achiever who they can believe in, who they can trust and who they want to ask to be associated with. Then we'll get on just great. So let's crack on.
