To be a effective magnetic marketer first and foremost you have to be yourself, You have to show people you are as human as they are and do make mistakes also. You also have to show what you have learned from your mistakes.
Everyone including you is looking for someone who knows more than you do in specific areas. This is how we all learn. Every teacher started out as a child, what they have learned placed them in a position to teach your children. The same has to be true of you.
*What did you learn? *Who did you learn it from? *How is this information going to help your “friend”? *How is it relevant to your “friends” problem?
You do not have to answer each of these questions in most instances. If it is someone who knows nothing about you it would be best to cover at least two. The two most important are what you learned and how you can help.
Think about your real friends, do they tell you if they don’t know the answer to a question you ask? If they don’t know are they willing to help you find an answer? Do they say “hey someone I know may have an answer“? Or do your friends treat you like your needs are not important to them?
Nobody likes to be treated as if they don’t matter. A few months ago we remodeled our bathroom, sales people in certain local businesses treated this way. These places we have no wish to return to.
We wanted a certain look, a style similar to the few things we were reusing , the sales people kept trying to sell us something that didn’t fit and, or saying we don’t have what you want. We finally ended up at the most expensive place in town.
There we were treated with respect and were finally shown ideas which fit with what we were trying to accomplish. They took time to explain that what we actually wanted was no longer available and found modern replacements which fit well and actually showed examples of what others had done.
There is a two point lesson to be learned from our experience. Many people are price conscious today, but will spend more if they are treated like they are important. Taking the time to tell instead of sell quite often pays a bigger dividend.
Why is it important to sell yourself instead of any product or service? The place we ended up at sold themselves. We knew it was the most expensive place in town before we walked in the door. This didn’t matter when they provided what we needed, after providing the knowledge and customer service required to fill our need.
Think about the world around you. How many products and services have disappeared in the past fifteen years? It seems they are always finding a reason to remove something from the market. There are a few products and services which are timeless, if you really look even those have had changes in the past fifteen years. Selling yourself gives you flexibility to change as the world around you changes.
Are any of us truly the “expert in our field”/ There are over five million people who teach magnetic marketing. There are some better and some worse, they all claim to be experts. In the end it all comes down to what each person believes. One thing is for sure if it didn’t work there wouldn’t be over five million people teaching others how to do it over the internet alone. What we really know is magnetic marketing sometimes called attraction marketing is working for us. And we don’t have a problem sharing.
