Building a brand; presentationLisech eMarketing logo

Presentation you will find is one of the most important aspects when building a brand. Branding to be effective must be well presented. Those who are self-branding must also be able to present, only as a person.

The most important thing to be aware of

Lisech eMarketing branding quote

Each and every person born can be considered a branded individual. No two people are the same nor can they lumped into a same category. Each person has an identity and an image. There are no two exactly alike. Your image is what others perceive you to be.

Even those who are presenting themselves need to do so professionally. Within limits, people expect certain behaviors from those in any given profession. This doesn’t mean you have to be a clone. It does mean you should have high ethical standards. Many companies don’t spend the time or money to do this effectively. Not all will take the time to learn as they go. They end up with their dreams smashed. I have seen many people get off to an unprofessional start and do very well. What they find is they have to gain professionalism or they go out of business.

Where are the areas you need to look?

Personal appearance Lisech eMarketing graphic

As a business owner or as an employee you represent the company. Most people know what types of clothing are required for their profession. Personal grooming is also something people see.  Pay attention to detail because your audience will be.

The place you should start is the profile picture you will be using. The picture does not have to be a professional photograph. It should though put you in the best light possible. Your name is next. It should be consistent, no adding a middle initial or name unless you do it everywhere.  Even if you have a brand with a logo, a personal picture will have to be used if you are going to have a Linkedin presence.   It is recommended on all your personal social media. People relate to people, not logos unless they know the person behind it.

Graphics Lisech eMarketing design graphic

Any business using social media needs to have good graphics. Graphics are the attention grabber. Poor quality means people are going to pass you by. Many small companies share the graphics of others. This is not always the best thing to do. It can lead people away from you to another company. Graphics should consistently use brand colors and fonts.

Social media posts

The rule of thumb is you want to use graphics no more than one time for every three posts. This means you have to fill the other slots with content. What is recommended is one post be a question (of which we aren’t seeing many) the other just content. It does appear videos are replacing questions.; Link spam gives the wrong impression. It means newbie or needy. Most people don’t want to deal with either.

You can share videos that are not created by you. Chances are you don’t want to share one created by direct competition. If you find a video that inspires or shares information that has value to your audience feel free to share it. Those who create their own videos need to conduct themselves in a professional manner and pay attention to staging. This doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with videos. People love fun and are more likely to pay attention if you are enjoying your work.

These are some simple tips to help with building your personal or company brand. Put them to use and chances are you will become a success story. Mindset and consistency also play roles in success.  ©May 22, 2014 8:50 PM CDT Dennis Thorgesen. Lisechglobal consulting, Lisech eMarketing services. All rights reserved
