Basics of brand image Lisech eMarketing

There are two areas where brands have a major concern. They are brand identity and image. Each plays a role and at times, you will find them intertwined. Both are what you show the world. Identity is what you share to let others know you exist. Where image comes is after they know you when people actually do business with you.


This includes your personal identity. Years ago, professionals learned it is best when people know the person behind the company as well as the company. For people who are self-branding YOU must be a big part of your business.  My friend Julie Klein is a self-brander. She knows there is a lot of competition for her name, for keywords I am not sure how she is doing. Julie KleinBecause she has a unique approach to being found, her keywords don’t matter as much. If you know her name, you can find her even with all her competition. This is because her photo is unique. It stands out against the others with the same name. Her picture is the main focus of her identity.



Although you have some control over your image such as customer service, promptness, and over delivery, in the end those who consider becoming and are customers decide what they see as your image. Your image also comes from things perceived by others like do you follow safety protocols, are you providing service with a smile, and your demeanor. What the last sentence can be translated as is are you happy and does it show.


Both identity and image can be related to feelings, more so image than identity. How do you make a potential customer feel? Does your existing customer have a good feeling after doing business with you? Generate the right feeling with a quality product or service and you will have customers for life. 

Where does it end?

Some company owners believe the internet is all it takes. Those who learn it goes beyond are the ones who see the most success. One of my local friends considers himself computer illiterate. His living is earned selling internet products. He is a frequent visitor in my home, which is my business address. I know him in person, I like him, and he is careful to make sure I can trust him. Not once have I seen him without a smile on his face.  When I do buy one of his products, he always calls to make sure I am satisfied with my purchase. Those basic attributes are what are seen as his brand image.
