Part of branding I have long considered networking. Without a sharing is caring attitude, you and those you care about have a harder time. A brands biggest asset is its reputation. What you will find is sharing; for others both inside and outside your network enhances your reputation.

What is in it for me?

This is the first question people think when they see something new. Not everyone is going to want what you have or do. You add value when you fill what they do want or need. If you do it well, when they do have a need you can fill you will be the first person to whom they look.

Why would you share for your competition?

For one thing, it changes attitudes. Maybe you do something a little different or don’t carry something they do, or provide a service they have. Their company might be in your potential client’s best interest today, tomorrow that could change. You might carry something or do something you competition doesn’t, the goal is to get them to refer to you those you can better serve. This is where sharing is caring really comes into play.

Now you are probably asking yourself; does this really work? People networking

Whether or not you believe this works, I have friends who are doing it today. For them it is working. They see it as what true networking is all about. Their goal is to satisfy their potential customer’s needs no matter what it takes. Chances are they have a slight advantage in that they serve geographical areas.

Whom do you serve? People being served

When you make a sale who is supposed to benefit? If it is not your buyer first; then in my estimation you are doing something wrong. Those who are self-serving don’t last long in business.

Networks

Two years ago, I became part of a network. This has helped my business. It pretty much doesn’t matter what you do, I see benefit in it for you.
