The most successful marketers are simply story tellers, what is your story?

Every marketer's function is to find buyers for their goods or services. The simplest way to do this is with a story. The two most important concepts here are SIMPLE and STORY.

 

Creating an interest

 

As a marketer you are looking for people interested in what you have to sell. Many speak mostly of the value of whatever it is they are selling. The reality is people buy people before they buy from them. Those who do well are the best story tellers. Important as well, they are a product of their product.

 

What do you believe?

 

I can't remember who told me or why I took it to heart, for years I believed, “There is nothing new under the sun.” “Everything important has already been written.” What I have found though is there is no one who has lived my life.

 

The truth

 

Everyone has a story to tell. You became who you are through the successes and tribulations you have lived through. Others are going to have similar stories, none though will be exactly like yours.

At the very least

 

Everyone who is seeing any success knows more than the person just starting a first business. It makes sense then to share what you have learned that will have value to those who are behind you. Sometimes a person finds something that works that even experienced marketer's haven't learned.

 

It is all about value

 

What do you know, or what have you lived through that will have value to your audience? This is what you are going to want to share. Some will love you, others will hate you for sharing. Those who hate you don't matter, those who love you will become your customers.

 

What do people want to know?

 

Do you have qualities I will find of value?

How well does what you know or lived through relate to what I am going through?

Why should I do business with you?

Can I trust that you are going to give me a solution to what I want or need?

Above all, who are you?

Every human has value

 

If you ask most people you will find they believe animals have as much value as a human. Every human has a story to tell. Each who earns their living as a business owner has to learn to tell their story better than their competition.

 

You start with the value of you

 

This is an important point that bears repeating. People buy the stories of people before they buy from people. If you pretend to be something you are not, people will find out, most often before they would become a buyer. They will then search for someone who is more truthful than you.

 

Keep your story simple

 

Both your story and everything leading to your product or service should be simple. Everything you do should be understood by your audience. Do this and you will have created a personal brand that is marketable and has buyers flocking to you.
