Lin-sanity Has Triggered Biz-sanity

Jeremy Lin a Harvard University graduate, now in the NBA. He was just riding the bench just 8 games ago for the New York Knicks. Business as far as basketball was as usual. Actually, the Knicks were on a bad losing streak. NBA commentators were already doubting if they would even make the playoffs. As far as business, the crowds were coming to Madison Square Garden because of its biggest stars Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudamire. But, the sales were not going through the roof. Jeremy Lin who had been on 2 other teams in his young 2 year career in the NBA was on the verge on being on his fourth. He was a great point guard in high school and in college at Harvard you could say without debate that he was the team star and leader. Well, after almost 2 year in the NBA he was nowhere. He had been down to the D-league and was now sitting at the end of the bench. Just waiting his turn to one day play the game that he has always excel at. When veteran point guard Byron Davis who was suffering from a back injury couldn't go Carmelo Anthony suggested that the coach play Lin and when he did the rest is history. Lin who is Asian-American with 5 starts behind him has score more points than any other player at that period in the NBA in the last 35 years. His totals in the last 7 games rank right up there with the best in the league. He's averaging 24.4 per games, Kobe Byrant is at 24.6 and Lebron James 24.3. Points don't always tell the story impact sometimes does. Prior to this Lynn average only 6.2 per games. I don't think any one in the Asia-American or world-wide Asian community new he existed. When hope seem lost Lin continue to try to get better. Then he got his chance. What is so amazing is that after 5 games he had taken not only the city of New York by storm, but the entire world. He is now being claim by Vietnamese-American, Filipino-American, Korean-American and the rest of Asian-American community. But, that's not all he is being embraced by the world Asian community. When his name is spoken the word “Lin-sanity” pops up emphasizing the craziness of his story and popularity. His story has effected the world. The media is buzzing about Lin-sanity everywhere. The financial world has also been buzzing about Lin-sanity. Basketball Jerseys sales with his number 17 on it have sky-rocketed. Thestreet.com says, “that he a one-man economic recovery that even Ben Bernanke couldn't dream up in his Federal Reserve meetings”. They also report that he has effected (MSG) stock causing a jump of 7% percent. When translated in to dollars that would come to 170 million dollars. This is the power of a good story and media marketing. This is power and the awesomeness of viral marketing. But, let's me not leave out determination, patience and opportunity. In the internet marketing business and business world this is how quickly things can change. There are those that have great story and they sell like hot cakes. This is a feel good story that took off like a rocket. In business the keys truly is determination, patience and opportunity. When the opportunity came Lin was ready. The question is are you ready to take your business or career to the next level when that opportunity comes? The lesson learned here is to keep striving and never quit. Your opportunity may not come today, but who knows about tomorrow? You could be the next Jeremy Lin because of a great marketing strategy, informative blog or being in the right place at the right time. What you do today will effect your tomorrow. We can turn our Lin-sanity into biz-sanity, believe me Jeremy Lin will do just that when they start contract talks at the end of the season.
