The Community Assistance Program (CAP) discount prescription card was established in response to the many requests for assistance for the uninsured and underinsured with their prescription needs. The CAP card saves the cardholder an average 15% on brand name medications, and 55% on generic medications. The discount prescription cards are accepted at over 80% of pharmacies in the US and its territories, including Puerto Rico. Anyone can use the CAP card, regardless of age or income. Our discount prescription card can allow someone to fill a prescription when they may normally go without.

The era of ‘Personalized Medicine’ has now arrived. It allows your physician to understand from your specific DNA profile what medications will work best. It’s called ‘pharmacogenetic testing’ or PGT. No more trial and error prescribing, no longer having the danger of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) which put over 2 million people annually in the hospital and cause over 100,000 deaths each year. Now doctors can have the knowledge to avoid these issues. Personalized Medicine helps doctors to individualize drug therapy, decrease adverse drug reactions, and increase the effectiveness of treatment plans. In other words:

“Right Information, Right Drug, Right Dose, Right from the beginning”

According to Felix Frueh, Associate Director of FDA, Personalized Medicine “is the science that allows us to predict a response to drugs based on an individuals’ complete genetic makeup.”

Approved by the FDA, several U.S. medical facilities have now adopted phamacogenetic testing:

Vanderbilt University Medical Centre
John Hopkins
Mayo Clinic
Duke Medical Centre
RCIVA Dallas (Cardiovascular & Interventional Vascular Associates)
HCA (Hospital Corporation of America)

If you are concerned about the effect that your medications are having on each other and want to dramatically reduce the possibility of an ADR; if you want to get the best result from your drug therapy as soon as possible, then you must speak with your health care provider about PGT.

Why should physicians test their patients? Very simply, it’s the right thing to do:
Eliminate trial and error.
Eliminate “One Size Fits All” medication management.
Enhance Patient Care.
Enhance Patient Satisfaction.
Enhance Compliance.
Enhance Patient Confidence.
Risk Management:
Reduces liability to physicians

Our partner in MyMEDxHalo is one of the leading laboratories in toxicology, for 30 years providing drug-response genetic testing that helps patients, doctors, pharmacists, and health plan sponsors determine the right dose, of the right medication, for the best patient outcome – minimizing adverse reactions and offering patients truly Personalized Medicine.

Leading specialty laboratory in the country:
One of only 6 SAMHSA and CLIA accredited labs in the world.
Recognized for its scope of testing and accuracy of results.
Known for its scientific expertise and innovation.
Expert services and physician consultation.

This world class lab has a knowledgeable staff that makes every effort to ensure that state of the art technology is employed on a patient-by-patient basis. Relevant clinical information and advanced analytical technologies are applied for each specimen. This ensures that the laboratory test results are optimized for each patient.

As a top tier facility, the lab is nationally licensed in several state regulatory programs, and adheres to guidelines stipulated by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) and The College of American Pathologists. The lab is fully accredited and provides services in Pain Management, Pharmacogenetic Testing, Drug Testing, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Biological Monitoring, Forensic Toxicology, and Medical Surveillance.

Pharmacogenetic testing (PGT) detects single nucleotide polymorphism of nine cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver: CYP2D6, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP3A4, CYP3A5, Factor II, Factor V, MTHFR, VKROC1.

By identifying the genotypes of these enzymes we can predict an individual’s ability to metabolize about 95% of all medications. The phenotypes are assigned based on the patients’ metabolizing ability as poor, intermediate, intermediate-extensive, extensive, and ultra-rapid metabolizers. Armed with the genetic information, physicians can provide personalized care by delivering the right medication at the right dosage to the right patient. In addition, PGT can help reduce adverse drug reactions, avoid drug interactions, prevent overdose and death, and save precious time and medical costs. Our lab’s PGT utilizes the state of the art Luminex 200 platform, FDA approved xTAG technologies, as well as laboratory-developed methods. The test is a simple non-invasive, buccal cell-based cheek swab. The PGT has a short turn-around time and easy to read lab reports. Individuals who may benefit from PGT include patients with abnormally high or low metabolite to substrate ratios in urine drug screening, patients with multiple organ system issues or on multiple medications, patients who suffer from debilitating adverse drug reactions, and patients who have gone through sequential ineffective drug trials. PGT is proven a useful tool in chronic pain management where the use of narcotics and other medication is likely.

According to the FDA, adverse drug reactions cause over 2 million hospitalizations per year and 106,000 annual deaths, while contributing $136 billion dollars to annual health care costs in our country. These are terrible statistics but the worst part is they are largely avoidable. The best part is that the technology is now available to every physician to ensure patient safety and the best possible treatment plan.
