People Need to See (or hear) it 3 times

People are funny. I work in the retail industry as a store manager. And my store was very busy prior to Hurricane Sandy hitting the east coast. Every customer had the same questions...Do you have water, flashlights and D batteries. But here is when the funny part came in. They didn't believe your answer until you told them 3 times. Here is an example... Customer: "Do you have any flashlights?" Me: No, I'm sorry they are sold out." Customer: "Really, You don't have any batteries?" Me: No, like I said they are all gone." Customer: "Do you think you might have some hidden in the stockroom?" Me: No Mam, I don't have any more flashlights!" My question is does she think I'm lying or is it that our brains work in such a way that it takes us 3 or more times to really get it. I know I've been taught in affiliate marketing that people need to see something at least 3 times before they respond. This is why your have a squeeze page and an auto-responder. This way you can email your prospect and tell them the same thing over and over again but in different ways while your are building trust.
