Why Did I Wait To Build My Absolutely Free Website?

Today I want to share with you a huge lesson learned as an Affiliate Marketer. It really is quite simple. No Website, No Success! I learned the hard way. So let me share my story...
Why did I wait to build my absolutely free website?

I learned this lesson the hard way. I did affiliate marketing for years and I did make some money. But the little money that I made, I made by using free websites like Squidoo and Hubpages. I also had a few Blogspot websites.

And I got some traffic as well as made some money. But ultimately, I was at the mercy of the blogging websites that I used. I had zero control. Since I didn't own my pages and posts, I could loose my content at any time. Squidoo, for example, could decide they didn't like my content and lock my lenses.

I remember years ago attempting to set up a WordPress site and being very confused and frustrated. So I gave up on it and decided since I was making some money with Squidoo, I would stick with them. Then in 2012 I saw my internet income drop dramatically. I went from making $2000 a month down to $800. The bottom line was, Squidoo no longer ranked with Google and it really hurt my income.

I made a decision to come back to Wealthy Affiliate because they are the ones who taught me about SEO and keyword research in the first place. I would never have had success with Squidoo had it not been for my SEO training from WA. And I knew that as a premium member I could host unlimited websites as part of my premium membership.

So I started going through the training as a "newbie." I made a decision that no matter how confused I got, I was going to create my own website.

The training was very easy! It was a step by step training the was mostly on video. Which I appreciated.

What I would do, is watch the video then pause it while I followed the steps on my own. Then I would push play to move forward with the next steps. After a few days, I had a beautiful website ready for content.

Then I started adding pages and blog posts to my new site. Now, my site ranks well and I get good traffic and my income is improving daily.

My point is this. It is great to write at free websites like Squidoo. For that matter, it is even great to write here at IBO toolbox. And it is great to promote your company website. But ultimately you need your own website that you can control 100%.

If you would like to create your own personal website, but you are not sure where to start, then start with a totally free website. When you join Wealthy Affiliate for free, you can create up to two sites.

Best!
