What is alkaline water? Is it different from the various types of filtered water, purified water, distilled water, or natural spring water? Normal tap water is considered to be neutral on the pH scale with a pH level of 7, while some water, such as well water, depending on its source, can be slightly acidic, with a pH of 6 or lower. Alkaline water is water that is neither acidic nor neutral on the pH scale, but rather on the alkaline side of the scale, often with a pH level around 8.
Alkaline water, also known as ionized water, may offer some health benefits that normal tap water does not offer.
