As the days go by, priorities change and we may not take care of ourselves as well as we deserve. Here's a checklist of a few things you can do to make sure you're putting the best "you" forward.
1. Start by smiling! Forget the pricey night creams and anti-aging "magic" serums. A simple smile can make you appear years younger. Smiling and looking on the bright side can also help boost your immune system, as it decreases stress. People who frequently smile are perceived to be more in control, at ease, and attractive than those who don't. Smiling can lift your spirits. A healthy smile can improve your confidence, help you make friends and help you succeed in your career. Scientific research shows the act of smiling to dramatically improve one's mood.
2. Take time out for yourself. Stress can do great damage to not only one's appearance but also one's body as a whole. Create "me time" which can simply be a few minutes of deep breathing exercises, writing or meditating.
3. Get Active. Besides not smoking, watching your weight is the most important step in starting anew. A healthy body leads to healthy skin and a clear mind. By exercising for at least 30 minutes each day, you can release stress and anxiety in the body. Chronic stress does significant damage to the body and mind. Reducing stress may lower blood pressure, improve digestion, and regulate blood sugar. Spending time around people who make you laugh also helps you cultivate your sense of humor, as does sharing funny stories and jokes with friends. So make everyday a great day and keep smiling!
