You Are What You Eat

Today we have an epidemic. In 1986 there wasn't a single state in this country that more than 14% of the populaton was obese.  Today 71% of the US population is overweight or obese.  So by any definition it is an epidemic.

It comes about in part because we've changed the nature of the food that we eat.We began adding chemicals to the food that artificially stimulate the dopamine in the brain of human beings.  That dopamine is associated with pleasure, it makes food taste good. We like to indulge in that and it makes us feel good. The consequense is obesity and other life threatning chronic illnesses.  The chemicals that I am referring to that are being added to our food supply are sugar, fat and salt.

This modification of highly refined foods rather than whole plant foods that was consistent in the past is leading to this epidemic that we are witnessing in our society.  Out of all the chronic diseases that are affecting society, diabetes seems to be the one that is increasing most rapidly and is going to have the most consequenses.  So what are we going to do about it?  Ultimately, since dietary excess is the contributing cause of the condition, getting rid of diatary excess ia going to have to be the fundamental intervention that's necessary to reverse this epidemic.  That means we need to ratically change the nature of what we are eating.

We have to get away from the animal fat, highly processed sugar, oil, salt (SOS) diet and get back to whole plant food diets that are (Sugar-Oil-Salt) free.  For most people, approximately 92% of the calories consumed comes from animal foods high in saturated fat or highly processed pleasure chemicals in all instant prepacked foods. The more processed foods are the more likely you are to over eat them. The idea of giving up animal flesh, salt, oil an sugar (SOS) is overwhelming to most of us because essentially, we are giving up everything we are used to eating.  Getting back to eating things like fresh fruits and veggies, starches like potatos, yams and sweet potatos, grains like brown rice and quinoa, beans, lentils and peas, nuts, seeds, and other plant based foods may sound unappealing, but these are the foods our bodies need to maintain a healthy disease free immune system.  These foods come from the earth.

This is the radical lifestyle changes that we have to make if we expect to see a major change in health conditions in our society.

The pleasure trap is the hidden force that underlys our health and happiness.   It's the reason why so many people are fat, sick and miserable. And it's almost unavoidable unless you are aware of  the pleasure trap. Unless you are aware of this hidden force that undermines health and happiness, your health will suffer.  It's not rocket science and you don't have to remain trapped.

It's true~You Are What You Eat.

When you adopt these principles, you will get very consistent predictable results.  You will feel stronger, look younger and live disease free!

Health is Wealth
