Born on August 26, 1910 in Uskub now known as Skopje (Albania), Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, (it’s her name), left her family at the age of 18 to become a Catholic nun under the name of Sr. Teresa.

Later she founded a religious Order, (The Missionaries of Charity), in India where she lived as a missionary.

Famous for her charitable actions she assisted the sick and the poorest who where literally dyeing from hunger, misery and various diseases in the streets of Calcutta.

Many young girls followed her example spreading her way of live and charitable enterprises abroad. We can number more than 600 sister-missions all over the world, across more than one hundred countries.

She received the Nobel Peace Prize on October 17th, 1979.

In 2003, just 6 years after her death she was beatified by Pope John Paul II.

Here below, let us consider some of her quotes and be inspired by her love, faith and sense of humor.

*    God doesn't require us to succeed; he only requires that you try

*    Unless a life is lived for others, it is not worthwhile.

*    We have not come to the world to be numbered, we have been

created for a purpose - for great things -: to love and be loved.

*    We cannot all do great things but we can do small things with great love.

*    I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.

*    Intense love does not measure; it just gives.

*    I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn’t trust me so much.

Warmest regards,

With love always,

Stay blessed!
