I remember waaaay back when I had to ask permission from my parents to go play at a friend's house. Or to have "seconds" on dessert, or to stay out past curfew....well, we've all been there, asking permission from some authority figure in our life. [Nowadays, it's probably YOU who is handing out the permission, yes?.]
I know you're a grown up, but ever stop to think about all the areas you are still "asking for permission"? What we wear, what we consume, the car we drive, the job we hold, the friends we hang out with...can you say those are all your choices?
Most importantly, is permission as to how we regard ourselves. Were you given permission to brag about your accomplishments, or were you told to be modest? Permission to express your feelings or told to keep them under wraps? Permission to take a risk or play it safe? Permission to pursue your dream or told you-can't-do-that?
People will always tell you what to do or how to feel, but you don't have to agree. Eleanor Roosevelt said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
Pay attention to where you give your permission... it might be eye-opening.
